It’s almost as if someone announced a contest to see who could pack as much functionality as possible into one single A/V component. Norwegian audio firm Electrocompaniet would certainly be a frontrunner to win with their Maestro system, an unassuming white box that single-handedly does the work of a whole rack of electronics gear.
So what has Electrocompaniet squeezed inside this little package? For starters, a Blu-Ray player and a 3×120-watt amplifier to power the front speakers of your surround system. AM/FM/HD radio tuner? Sure. But what about internet radio? Oh yeah, that too. Streaming LAN audio and video? Of course.
And for the rear channels of your surround system, simply pick up the Maestro’s sidekick, Electrocompaniet’s PSB-1 wireless amp. It provides 120 watts of power for the rear speakers, and its wireless connection to the Maestro means even less clutter in the room that used to house all of your separate A/V components.
What are you going to do with all that space?
The Meastro system should be available later this year, price TBD.
