True story, sorry this might be classed as a Physics lesson so be pre - warned. I used to work for the UK Ministry of Defence making military hardware of all kinds. Some of our kit was powered by Batteries and rechargeable NIMh ones. When charged we measured the atomic weight one day. the fully charged batteries actually weighed in at 0.00000000001g extra we could not account for this! Otherwise we tried the same on a USB stick with data, VS a USB Stick that had no data. the new stick weights fractions of a g(ram) lower than the USB Stick with data. om the battery discussion, I would stick with proven Camera persons recommends. I only use mine (two of these ) in a Touch Controller (for the Rift S) they last ages.

Are you comparing 2850 mAh (milli Amp hours) to 3000 mWh (milli Watt hours)?

Right. If you look at the voltage otuput curves of alkaline vs NiMH, the alkalines start at 1.5-1.6 but only mantain it for a little whiel, where NiMH tends to maintain that 1.2-1.25 steadily up until near the very end for good batteries, and almost anything that will run on alkalines will run just fine on NiMH (there are rare exceptions that perform slightly better on the higher voltage, but that doesn't last and most quality gear is not designed to run okay for 15-20% of battery life and then run like crap for the rest of the life of the battery.
